# Getting access

There are different ways to access the functions and procedures included in the CARTO Analytics Toolbox for BigQuery:

* [**Projects maintained by CARTO in different BigQuery regions**](https://docs.carto.com/data-and-analysis/analytics-toolbox-for-bigquery/getting-access/projects-maintained-by-carto-in-different-bigquery-regions): This is the most standard and easy way to get access to the Analytics Toolbox. It provides access to the latest version in all GCP regions.
* [**Manual installation in your own project:**](https://docs.carto.com/data-and-analysis/analytics-toolbox-for-bigquery/getting-access/manual-installation-in-your-own-project) This is the option of choice if you need to use a specific version of the Analytics Toolbox, or need to access the functions in a self maintained project.
* [**Installation in a Google Cloud VPC**](https://docs.carto.com/data-and-analysis/analytics-toolbox-for-bigquery/getting-access/installation-in-a-google-cloud-vpc)**:** This is the only suitable option for Self Hosted deployments of the CARTO platform in a Google Cloud VPC, as the Analytics Toolbox functions need to be accessed from within the same VPC.

{% hint style="info" %}
There is a reduced version of the Analytics Toolbox that contains only **core** functionality. This version is open source and can be used freely from a BigQuery project maintained by CARTO or installed manually in your own project.

Read [**this section**](https://docs.carto.com/data-and-analysis/analytics-toolbox-for-bigquery/getting-access/core-module) if you want to learn more about it.
