# Customer data responsibilities

By utilizing the CARTO platform and connecting your own cloud data warehouse to access your data; you acknowledge that - as the customer - you are the solely responsible for the backup, recovery, and availability of your data.

CARTO provides a cloud native platform for geospatial analysis and visualization but it does not assume any responsibility for the security, integrity, or availability of any data that is stored and processed in **your own data warehouse**.

**1. Backup:** The customer is responsible for implementing and maintaining a robust data backup strategy for the connected data warehous&#x65;**.** We recommend you to regularly backup your data to prevent data loss in case of accidental deletion, corruption, or other unforeseen events.

**2. Recovery:** In the event of data loss, the customer is responsible for initiating and managing the recovery process at the connected data warehouse platform.

**3. Availability:** The customer is responsible for ensuring the availability of the data hosted in the connected cloud data warehouse platform.
